state of the lj
for those of you who don't know, an unknown person/group disliked A SINGLE USER so much that they attacked multiple websites yesterday. twitter, google, and facebook have recovered, but good ol' livejournal has not. this is both hilarious and annoying, obviously.
an in-depth look at the situation can be found here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8189162.stm

I'm glad that someone is talking about this over at lj! I'm very frustrated about being left in the dark. I can't find any way to contact the support team without having access to a livejournal.com page.

Geez, I really wish Lj had an *off-site* resource for tech issues. Or even, ya know, updates. Even their twitter hasn't updated in over a year... :( The only downside to DW is that most people/comms I follow still haven't made it over yet.
Thanks for creating this comm at least! Here's hoping more people track it down.

I'm also finally back up on LJ, hopefully for good, but not by any intervention of my own. They did eventually update their off-site status page. I know they were probably still dealing with a lot of fallout from the attacks and busy with that, but having worked in an extremely high-paced and stressful customer service environment, I know just how quickly frustration can be dealt with by letting people know that you know they're having a problem and you're working on fixing it. Uncertainty and confusion just drives most people batty, and it can be a deceptively simple thing to deal with. /2cents

I'm just bopping around randomly on DW

It wouldn't help much in cases like this when Twitter is also down due to an attack, but at least there is one offsite backup.
